, N.J. The College of Mount Saint Vincent Softball team was defeated twice on Monday afternoon at NJCU by scores of 13-0 and 9-0. Leeann Cerbone (Bronx, N.Y.) and Joanna Makayan (Queens, N.Y.) each picked up a base hit for the Dolphins on the afternoon.

 

NJCU outhit Mount Saint Vincent 13-1 in the opener and used an eight run first inning to open up an early lead. The Dolphins lone hit in the game came in the top half of the second when Cerbone singled through the left side to lead off the frame. Mount Saint Vincent put together a threat in the third with runners and second and third and two outs, but could not push across a run in the inning.

 

In game two NJCU again jumped out to quick lead after scoring all nine of its runs in the first two innings. The Gothic Knights used three hits and a Mount Saint Vincent error to push across six runs in the second to close out the scoring.

 

Mount Saint Vincent's only hit in the game came in the fourth inning, when Makayan lead off with a single. She was later cut down stealing in the inning to end the Mount Saint Vincent threat.

 

The sweep at the hands of the Gothic Knights extends the Dolphins' losing streak to 10 games to open the season. The Mount will look to get into the win column for the first time on Tuesday when it travels to York. First pitch for the non-conference twinbill is set for 3:30 p.m.
