Albany, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team closed out its Skyline Conference schedule on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win at Sage. The Mount took the match by set scores of 26-24, 23-25, 25-18 and 25-16. David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) led three players with at least 12 kills with 17 and Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) paced the Dolphins with 42 assists.
Guerrero hit .244 overall in the match on his way to a match-high kill total. He also finished the night with 11 digs and tied for the team lead in total blocks with four. Guerrero has now recorded double-figures in kills in all but one match this season. He also finished the night with one of the Dolphins' five service aces.
Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) also had a strong night for the Mount with 14 kills and also chipped in with nine digs. Joe Ecock (Brooklyn, N.Y.) rounded out the trio in double-figures with 12 winners without committing an attack error. Ecock hit an even .600 on the night and led the way with two service aces. He rounded out a strong all-around match with seven digs and four total blocks.
Quinn led all players with a match-high in assists and also recorded three kills and eight digs. Junior Michael Sin (Hicksville, N.Y.) led the team with 12 digs on the night and also posted a kill and five assists.
Overall in the match, Mount Saint Vincent hit .279 as a team, but hit better then .400 in each of the final two sets. The Dolphins held the edge in kills 49-41 and in digs 54-38. Sage totaled nine total team blocks to eight for the Dolphins, with Jeremy Mosch and Connor Thompson leading the way for the Gators with four apiece.
Sage was led by two players in double-figures in kills with Spencer Hilland collecting 13 and Thompson finishing with 11. Kyle Ray led the Gators with 35 assists and Matt Bynon led all players by lifting 15 digs.
The win on Tuesday pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 15-5 overall on the season and closes out its league slate with an 8-2 mark. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Sunday when they look for their second Skyline Conference Championship. The league tournament will be hosted by Bard with times and pairings to be announced.
