Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team picked up a dominating 3-0 victory over visiting Medgar Evers on Monday night. The Dolphins took the match by set scores of 25-11, 25-10 and 25-5 and hit better then .300 in each set. Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) led two in double-figures in kills with 11 and Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) led all players with 33 assists.
Mount Saint Vincent never trailed in the match after hitting .333 with 16 kills in the opening set. The Dolphins built on that momentum in the second set and collect 15 winners on .560 hitting and they had their most efficient set of the night in the third and final after hitting .625 and not committing an attack error.
Six of the seven players that appeared in the match for Mount Saint Vincent hit better then .400, with Bacchi hitting an even .500 with 11 kills and just three errors in 16 attacks. David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) totaled 10 kills and finished with the only double-double of the night with a match-high 14 digs.
Quinn added three kills to his assist total on the night and was one of six players with a service ace after finishing with three. Bacchi also added three aces and Guerrero led all players with four in the match.
Overall on the night, Mount Saint Vincent held a large advantage in kills 41-10 and also lifted 36 digs to 20 for Medgar Evers. Mount Saint Vincent also had the only four total team blocks in the contest, with Mark Sargente (Commack, N.Y.) leading the way with two. Bacchi and Michael Sin (Hicksville, N.Y.) contributed to the gap in digs with seven apiece for the Dolphins.
The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 14-5 overall on the season heading into the final stages of the regular season. The Dolphins will hit the road on Tuesday when they travel to Sage for an important Skyline Conference matchup with the Gators. The contest is set to get underway at 7:00 p.m.
