, N.Y. The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team ran its winning streak to four matches on Wednesday with a 3-0 sweep over Skyline foe Purchase. The Dolphins posted the win by set scores of 25-18, 24-14 and 25-9. Junior Michael Sin (Hicksville, N.Y.) led all players with 13 digs on the night.

 

Sin posted a strong all-around match against the Panthers after adding five kills and an ace to his dig total. He now leads the team in total digs with 104 and is averaging 2.74 per set for the Mount.

 

The Dolphins did not place a player in double-figures in the kill category after a slow start to the match. After hitting -.069 in the opening set the Dolphins rebounded to hit .182 overall, including .471 in the third frame. David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) led the Dolphins with eight winners to go along with seven digs and a match-high five service aces.

 

Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) also turned in a strong showing for the Dolphins with seven kills and just one attack error. He hit .462 in the match to lead all players and also added an ace and a pair of total blocks. Mark Sargente (Commack, N.Y.) also recorded a pair of blocks for the Dolphins and two kills.

 

Senior Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) totaled a match-high 26 assists on the night and also lifted a pair of digs. Quinn has now handed out 310 helpers on the season and is averaging better the eight assists per set.

 

Purchase was led by Mateo Morel who posted four kills and Len Mui who finished off three winners. Bruno Estrada led the Panthers with nine assists and Mui along with Daniel Fontanez lifted a team-high six digs.

 

Overall in the match, Mount Saint Vincent totaled 30 kills to just 11 for Purchase and lifted 38 to 27 for the Panthers. The Dolphins also held the edge in total team blocks at 4-1.

 

The win on Wednesday pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 9-2 overall and keeps it unbeaten against Skyline rivals with a perfect 4-0 mark. The Dolphins will look to sustain their recent momentum on Thursday night when they play host to Southern Vermont. The non-conference match is slated for 7:00 p.m.
