Manhattanville Wednesday evening by a score of 14-3. Freshman
Mike Shea (Congers, NY) led the Mount Saint Vincent attack with a pair of goals, while
Jason Reynolds (Centereach, NY) continued his solid play with a goal and an assist for the Dolphins.
Manhattanville was in command from the outset on Wednesday, as it scored the first 12 goals of the contest. Reynolds got the Dolphins on the board at the 13:35 mark of the fourth quarter with his ninth marker of the season. Shea would strike with his first tally with just under 10 minutes remaining in the contest, before finishing a feed from Reynolds with just 12 ticks left in the contest. The goals were Shea's second and third of the season.
Manhattanville had five players score at least twice in the tilt, led by Joey Hasbrouck's three goals. Hasbrouck would also contribute a pair of assists in the win for a five point night. Luke Dorfman also had a strong game as he posted four points on the strength of two goals and two assists.
Tom Egan (Nanuet, NY) got the start in goal for the Dolphins and made 12 saves, including five stops in the third quarter. Mike Nuzzi (Westbury, NY) came on to play the final 15:00 of the contest and made three saves. Each goalie picked up a groundball for the Mount.
Russ Holland (Brooklyn, NY) led the squad with four groundballs in the game, while five other players scooped two for the Dolphins. Ken Valentine (Centereach, NY) won eight of the 15 face-offs he took in the game, as the Dolphins went 9-20 in the category overall.
For the game, Manhattanville held the advantage in shots at 49-22 and in groundballs at 44-23. The Dolphins were successful on 13 clearing attempts in the game and turnovers were 33-19 against the Mount.
The loss drops the Dolphins to 0-5 on the season overall. Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action again on Saturday when they travel to Vermont to take on Green Mountain. Face-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on March 29.
