Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. – Four College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse players scored three goals on Thursday night in the Dolphins' 21-1 win at Bard. The win marks the first ever Skyline

Rowan Frederick was one of four players to tally three goals in the Mount's first ever league win.

Conference victory for the Mount in the program's history. The win also gives Mount Saint Vincent a program best seven wins in a season.

 

The Dolphins took control of the game early on Thursday, scoring the first 10 goals of the game. The only goal allowed to Bard came in the first five minutes of the second quarter.

 

In all 11 different Mount Saint Vincent players scored a goal, including Dan Cohen (Ardsley, N.Y.) who also led the way with four of the team's nine assists. Russ Holland (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Rowan Frederick (Brooklyn, N.Y.) Cavan Valance (Glen Cove, N.Y.) and Chris Guastamacchia (Goshen, N.Y.) all tallied three times for the Mount in the contest.

 

Frederick and Cohen led the way for the Dolphins with five points apiece. Guastamacchi added an assist to his three goals for a four point night to go along with seven groundballs and 21 face-off wins.

 

Mike Nuzzi (Westbury, N.Y.) was rarely tested on the night and had to make only four saves in the tilt. He made two stops apiece in the second and the fourth quarters. His counterpart from Bard, Michael Luxemburg, made 22 saves including eight in the opening period.

 

The team stats on the night also showed the domination of the Dolphins in the game. Mount Saint Vincent held the edge in shots 65-21 and in groundballs 89-38. Ahmed Ajao (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was one of six players for the Mount to pickup at least six groundballs with his nine on the night. Valance led the way in the category with 12 pickups.

 

Mount Saint Vincent lost just one face-off against the Raptors, winning 25 of the 26 taken. The Dolphins were also efficient in clearing attempts in the contest, going 22-for-24.

 

The win improves Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 7-6 and its Skyline Conference record to 1-2. Next up for the Dolphins is a road date at Maritime on Saturday afternoon. Face-off with the Privateers is slated for 1:00 p.m.
