Union, N.J. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team dropped its second straight league contest on Wednesday with a 20-2 road loss at Kean.
Chris Guastamacchia (Goshen, N.Y.)
scored one of the two Mount goals and also led the squad with five face-off wins.
Mount Saint Vincent was shutout by Kean in three of the four quarters on Wednesday night. Both Mount goals came in the second stanza when Mike Shea (Congers, N.Y.) connected on his 26th goal of the season at the 12:52 mark and Guastamacchia scored his fourth of the season with 40 ticks left before halftime.
Kean finished the game with five players scoring multiple goals and seven players finishing up with multiple points. Anthony Bertucci led the way for the Cougars with team highs in goals with three and points with four. Justin Lappan picked up five groundballs in the tilt for Kean and Andrew Rau came off the bench to win 11 of the Cougars' 20 face-offs.
Guastamacchia, Ken Valentine (Centereach, N.Y.) and Greg Gabriel (Mineola, N.Y.) all picked up a pair of groundballs for the Dolphins and junior goalkeeper Mike Nuzzi (Westbury, N.Y.) made 10 saves in the cage.
Overall in the game, Kean held the edge in shots 43-12, groundballs 35-11 and won 20 of the 25 face-offs. The Cougars connect on three man advantage goals and were successful on 10 of their 12 clearing attempts. Mount Saint Vincent was 0-3 with the extra man and went 9-13 in clears.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent back to the .500 mark overall on the season at 5-5 and to 0-2 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Monday when they travel to Montclair St. Face-off with the Red Hawks is set for 7:00 p.m.
