Mount Saint Vincent Men's Lacrosse team cruised past Mitchell on Thursday afternoon 15-3. The win is the Mount's third in its last four contests.

 

After the Mount fell behind 1-0 early in the first quarter, it ran off four straight goals and 11 of the final 13 tallies of the game to secure the road victory. After Mitchell's Adam Grillo scored at the 1:49 mark of the first quarter, the Mount did not allow another goal until Grillo scored again with just under 12 minutes remaining in regulation.

 

Nine different Mount Saint Vincent players found the back of the cage on Thursday with Ahmed Ajao (Brooklyn, N.Y.) leading the way with three markers to go along with an assist. Ken Valentine (Centereach, N.Y.), Mike Visintin (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Derek Valance (Glen Cove, N.Y.) each tallied two goals to support the balanced offensive attack.

 

Frederick recorded six assists in a game for the second time this season and also added a goal for a seven point afternoon. He leads the team in helpers this season with 21 and is second in points with 27.

 

Guastamacchia netted two goals for the Mount and went 19-for-21 in face-offs. He also scooped six groundballs for the Dolphins. Valentine led the Mount in the groundball category with 10, while Ajao picked up eight.

 

Mike Nuzzi (Westbury, N.Y.) played a steady game in the cage for Mount Saint Vincent, making five saves and picking up a groundball. Two Mitchell goalies combined to make 21 saves, with Gregg Jameson stopping 12 shots in the second half.

 

The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent back above the .500 mark on the season at 5-4 overall. The Dolphins will return to league play on Tuesday, April 6 when they travel to Farmingdale St. Opening face-off with the Rams is set for 7:00 p.m.
