Men’s Lacrosse Falls To Kean On Senior Day

First four year graduating class in program history celebrated on Saturday

and Jason Reynolds (Centereach, NY) were recognized following the game. Egan, O'Connell, Wong and Reynolds are the first four-year graduating seniors in program history.

Kean took control of the game from the beginning and raced out to a 5-0 lead after the first quarter. The Cougars would score the first five goals of the second quarter as well to take a 10 goal advantage, before Reynolds got the Mount on the board with 2:23 left in the opening half. The Dolphins would go scoreless until the 3:49 mark of the fourth quarter when Reynolds notched his second of the day. Reynolds would record the only two points of the day for the Mount.

Ken Valentine ( Centereach, NY) and Cody Green (Waldwick, NJ) led the team with four groundballs each, while Russ Holland (Brooklyn, NY), Charlton and Ryan O'Dougherty (Morristown, NJ) each picked up three for the Dolphins. Chris Beerman (Floral Park, NY) led the team with five face-off wins.

Egan got the start in the cage for the Dolphins and made eight saves, including six in the first quarter. He also picked up two groundballs in the first half. Mike Nuzzi (Westbury, NY) played the second half and made a pair of saves to go along with one groundball.

Kean was led by five players with at least two goals. Eric Gillar led the way with three goals and an assist. Chris DeCarlo and Jazimar Bailey each scored a goal and added a pair of assists. Dave Nichols played the first 45:00 in net and made four saves, while John Gesumaria came on the fourth quarter and made five stops.

Overall in the game, Kean out shot the Dolphins 42-19 and held the edge in groundballs 39-31. The Cougars went 2-2 with the extra man, while the Dolphins went 0-5. Turnovers in the came were 29-26 against the Mount and Kean won 17 of the 26 face-offs. Mount Saint Vincent went 18-28 in clearing attempts, while the Cougars were successful on all but one, going 23-24.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 3-11 overall and to 0-5 in the Skyline Conference. The Dolphins will close out the 2008 season on Sunday morning when they travel to New London, CT to take on Mitchell. Face-off is set for 10:00 a.m.
