Dolphins Remain Perfect In Skyline Play, Down Bard 3-1

Five Dolphins post double-figure kills

Rob Hockenjos paced the Mount with 17 kills against Bard.
Conference play on Wednesday night with a 3-1 home win over Bard. Junior Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) led five Dolphins with double-figure kills with 17, while rookie Justin Amaral (Warwick, R.I.) posted a career-best 15 winners.

Hockenjos finished a solid all-around night by adding a pair of assists, four service aces, two block assists and seven defensive digs to his kill total. Amaral was one of two Dolphins to post a double-double in the match with his 15 winners and 11 digs. He also added six aces and two assists. John Furka (Massapequa, N.Y.) also posted a double-double with 10 winners and 10 digs.

T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, N.Y.) posted 13 kills on senior night and also added six digs. Classmate Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, N.Y.) came off the bench in the third game to post 20 assists, three digs and a block assist.

Rounding out the players with 10-plus kills was Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) who chipped in with 11 kills to go along with four assists, three aces and nine digs. Sophomore setter Mike Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) saw most of the setting action in the match and posted 36 helpers to go along with four kills.

 Bard was led by Nick Chan who finished with a match-high 18 kills and Maxwell Howard who chipped in with 12 winners. Andrew Cortrite posted 11 digs for the Raptors and setter Brice Ormesher led all players with 40 assists.

As a team the Mount posted 71 kills in the match and a .252 hitting percentage. The Dolphins totaled 15 service aces to just two for Bard and lifted 52 digs to 31 for the Raptors.

The win improves Mount Saint Vincent to 12-13 overall, 4-5 in NECVA Metro play and a perfect 7-0 in Skyline Conference competition. Next up for the Dolphins is a home match with Purchase on Thursday night. The match with the Panthers is set for 7:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
