T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage HS) recorded 10 kills, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team was swept by CUNY powerhouse Baruch, 3-0 on Monday night during a match played at Mount Saint Vincent. With the loss, the Dolphins are now 6-10 for the 2007 season and saw a two-match winning streak snapped.
A year after being dominated during a 3-1 loss to Baruch, the Mount proved to be a formidable foe on Monday night as Baruch was pushed to the limit during each game. Baruch won the match 30-22, 30-25, 30-21, and it was afew unlucky breaks during each game that allowed Baruch the victory. Mount Saint Vincent hit .105 compared to Baruch's .279, but the match was otherwise a statistical wash as neither team had a decisive edge in net play or digs.
Aside from Williams and Pufahl having stellar evenings, junior Nick Canzano (Farmington, CT/Victor Central HS) and sophomore Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY/Salesian) were also outstanding as Canzano registered a team-high 17 digs, while Dororatos led the Mount with 33 assists.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 21 when they host NECVA-Metro rival SUNY New Paltz at 7:00 p.m.
