New York, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team dropped its fifth straight
match on Thursday night after a 3-0 loss at Hunter. The Hawks took the match by game scores of 25-30, 15-30 and 12-30. The Dolphins hit -.112 on the night and senior
Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) led the way with nine kills.
Only three Mount Saint Vincent players did not hit in red numbers in the contest and all three of those players posted hitting percentages of .000. Hockenjos and Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), who had six winners, totaled 15 of the Mount's 23 kills in the match.
Krauszer led the way in digs on the night with seven and junior setter Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) handed out 17 assists to lead the team. Michael Sin (Hicksville, N.Y.) chipped in with a team-high two service aces and six defensive digs.
Hunter was led by Christopher Newcomb who posted 11 kills in 18 total attacks for an impressive .556 hitting percentage. John Gemegah also had a solid outing with nine kills. Overall in the match the Hawks hit .247.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 13-12 overall on the season. The Dolphins will have an extended break until they host the 2010 Skyline Conference Championships on Sunday, March 21. The seedings and match times have yet to be announced.
