Mount Saint Vincent Closes Out MIT Invitational With Losses To MIT, Emmanuel

Dolphins were bested by MIT and Emmaunel 3-0 by scores of 10-30, 25-30 and 14-30 and 14-30, 13-30 and 21-30. Senior middle blocker Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) totaled 20 kills over the two contests.

 

Against the Enignieers Hockenjos and junior David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) led the Mount Saint Vincent offensive attack with nine kills apiece. Hockenjos also finished the match with a service ace and four digs.

 

Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) led the Dolphins with seven defensive digs against MIT and junior setter Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) handed out 20 assists to go along with five defensive digs.

 

Against Emmanuel it was again Guerrero and Hockenjos who led the Mount in kills with 14 and 11 respectively. Guerrero also led the squad with 14 points and totaled eight digs. Hockenjos added two total blocks to his 11 winners.

 

Sophomore Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) lifted a team-high nine digs against the Saints and also picked up three kills. Quinn was again steady for the Dolphins after handing out 23 assists, lifting four digs and posting a pair of total blocks.

 

After finishing 0-4 over the two day tournament the Dolphins now stand at 13-11 overall on the season. Mount Saint Vincent will close out the home portion of its regular season schedule on Tuesday when it hosts NECVA Metro rival Vassar on Senior Night. The contest with the Brewers is set for 7:00 p.m.
