Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team remained unbeaten in Skyline Conference play on Thursday night with a 3-0 home win over Yeshiva. The Mount took the
contest by scores of 30-12, 30-17 and 30-22. Junior
Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) led the Mount with 10 kills, while rookie
Justin Amaral (Warwick, R.I.) added nine digs.
Hockenjos hit .750 in the match committing just one attack error in 12 attempts. He also added a block assist in the win for the Dolphins. Amaral collected nine kills in addition to his dig total and also finished with four of the Mount's 18 service aces.
T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, N.Y.) also registered nine kills in the match to go along with eight digs and a pair of aces. Quamel McLaurin (Long Beach, N.Y.) finished the night with eight winners for the Dolphins and six defensive digs.
Freshman Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) led the Dolphins with seven service aces in the match and also lifted a pair of digs and recorded a kill. Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, N.Y.) finished the night with a match-high 26 assists and five digs, while Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) came off the bench to finish with 11 helpers, a dig and a block assist.
Overall in the match, Mount Saint Vincent hit .357 with 47 kills. The Mount lifted 37 digs as a team and posted three total team blocks. Yeshiva hit just .078 in the match, registering only 17 kills. The Maccabees were led by David Kahana who posted a match-high 11 winners.
The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent back above the .500 mark at 10-9 overall and improves its Skyline record to a perfect 6-0. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday in Cambridge, Mass. in the MIT Tournament. The Dolphins will take on Emmanuel and the host Engineers on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. respectively.
