Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Rose) was also at the top of his game, averaging 2.86 kills and a team-high 4.79 digs per game as the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team went 1-3 at the challenging MIT Tournament in Cambridge, Mass. After the weekend, the Mount's record is now 4-9 overall and they now return home for four straight matches.
Mount Saint Vincent opened play with a 3-1 loss to Bard College on Saturday evening where the Dolphins opened play with a 23-30 loss, but followed up with a thrilling 34-32 win. However, Bard swept the next two games, 30-15 and 30-28 to take the match. Later that night, the Dolphins dominated Mount Ida, 3-1 where they won the first two games, 30-23 and 30-21, respectively. After a 30-27 Mount Ida win in the third game, Mount Saint Vincent closed out the match with a 30-25 win.
Sunday proved to be more difficult as the Mount was swept by both MIT and Lasell. The Lasell match proved to be the more competitive of the two matches as after a 30-17 loss in the opening game, the Mount played the Lasers tough during the final two games, losing 30-27 and 31-29.
Pufahl was downright dominant during all four matches, registering double-doubles against Mount Ida and MIT. Against Mount Ida, he registered 19 kills and 11 digs, while he had 13 kills and 10 digs against MIT. Pufahl also hit .330 for the weekend. Williams was also tremendous as he had 14 or more kills during all four matches and double-doubles against Bard and Mount Ida. He also broke 20 digs for the third time this season against Lasell.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 13 when they host Bard College at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday's match will be a NECVA-Metro encounter.
