Dolphins bested in a pair of NECVA Division matches

Three Dolphins record 10-plus kills against Bard

Senior Arnold Ross finished with 15 kills over two matches on Saturday.
Metro Division matches on Saturday, falling to #8 Stevens and Bard 3-0. Scores of the Stevens match were 17-30, 23-30, and 20-30 in favor of the Ducks, while Bard was victorious by scores of 28-30, 30-32, and 22-30. Mount Saint Vincent had three players record at least 10 kills against Bard, led by David Guerrero's (East Meadow, NY) 11.

Against Stevens, freshman John Furka (Massapequa, NY) led the Dolphins by posting eight kills and finishing with a .333 hitting percentage. Guerrero and fellow rookie Ryan Vogel (Holbrook, NY) each posted six kills in the match, while senior Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME) recorded five winners.

Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY) finished the match with a team-high 21 assists to go along with a service ace and a dig. Guerrero also led the Mount in digs against the Ducks, recording five. Phil Anselmo finished the match with three digs, while Furka and Guerreo each posted two total blocks.

Jonathan Landis led the Ducks, who hit .395 in the match, with 10 kills and a .615 hitting percentage. Aaron Ostrovsky finished the match with 25 assists, while fellow setter Brandt Grobeis came off the bench to finish with 16. The Ducks recorded eight service aces in the match and six total team blocks.

Against Bard, Guerrero led the Mount with his 11 kills, while Vogel and Ross each finished with 10. Furka had another solid match, posting eight winners and a .429 hitting percentage. Junior T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY) chipped in with six kills in the match.

Dotoratos again led the team with 26 assists and Mike Quinn (Wantagh, NY) came off the bench in game three and posted 13 helpers. Quinn also recorded a kill in the match for the Mount.

Vogel was the team leader in digs against the Raptors, posting six, while Guerrero and Ross each ended the set with five. Dotoratos and Anselmo each had four defensive digs in the contest, while Furka and Ross each contributed a pair of total blocks.

Henry Schemker led Bard with 15 winners and was followed by Zachary Hamaker who had 13. Steven Alday recorded a match-high 41 assists for Bard and Hamaker finished with 14 digs.

The losses drop the Dolphins to 6-12 overall on the season, to 3-2 in the Skyline Conference and to 3-5 in the NECVA's Metro Division. Mount Saint Vincent will return to action on Wednesday, February 27 when they host NJCU. The match is set for 7:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
