Dolphins Win Second Straight With Sweep Of Lehman

win on Monday night with a 3-0 sweep of cross-town rival Lehman. The Dolphins took the match by scores of 30-11, 30-10 and 30-15. Sophomore David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) and senior T. J. Pufahl (Bethpage, N.Y.) finished with 11 kills each.

Guerrero, who was named Skyline Player of the Week for the third time on Monday, hit .304 in the match and also posted a match-high seven service aces. He also finished with six digs and a pair of total blocks. Senior T. J. Pufahl posted a .444 hitting percentage with his 11 winners and also chipped in with a pair of digs. 

Junior Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) finished the match with eight kills and three total blocks and John Furka (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded a .429 hitting percentage with seven kills.

Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) paced the Mount with a match-high 19 assists to go along with three service aces. Quamel McLaurin (Long Beach, N.Y.) finished the contest with 10 digs to lead all players.

As a team the Dolphins hit .447 in the match, committing just 10 attack errors. They finished with 44 kills, 13 service aces, 34 digs and 7.5 total team blocks.

Jonathan Cruz led the Lightning with seven kills and Rafael Abreu finished with six digs as Lehman fell to 4-9 on the season.

The win moves Mount Saint Vincent back to the .500 mark on the season at 8-8 overall. Next up for the Dolphins will be a Sunday afternoon home match against Baruch. The contest with the Bearcats is set for 1:00 p.m. on March 1.
