Dolphins fall in five games at Baruch

Guerrero posts 29 kills

NEW YORK, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team had its two match winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss at Baruch on Tuesday night. Scores of the match were 30-25, 26-30, 28-30, 30-27, and 12-15 against the Mount. A pair of freshman led the Dolphins, as David Guerrero (East Meadow, NY) posted 29 kills and classmate Ryan Vogel (Holbrook, NY) finished 20 winners for the Dolphins.

Guerrero and Vogel were the only two players on the Dolphins to reach double-figures in kills, as they accounted for 49 of the teams 69 total winners. John Furka (Massapequa, NY) finished the night with seven kills, while Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME) recorded six on the night. T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY) had five kills in the match and Mike Quinn (Wantagh, NY) rounded out the Dolphins in the kill column with a pair.

Mount Saint Vincent also had three players record at least 10 kills against the Bearcats. Ross finished the match with 10 helpers and Quinn recorded 27. Leading the team in the category was junior Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY) with 33.

The Dolphins also had three players in double-figures in defensive digs on Tuesday night. Ross recorded a team-high 15, while Guerrero and Phil Anselmo (Bronx, NY) each finished the night with 11. Furka led the team in blocks, recording eight of the team's 12 total blocks.

The loss drops the Dolphins to 6-9 overall on the season. Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action on Thursday night when it will take on #6 Vassar. The match in Poughkeepsie is set for 7:00 p.m.
