match with a 3-0 victory over Yeshiva on Monday night. Scores of the match were 30-8, 30-17, and 30-12 in favor of the Dolphins. The Mount hit an impressive .375 in the match and was led by
Ryan Vogel's (Holbrook, NY) 15 kills.
Vogel hit .600 in the match, finishing 15 winners on 20 total attacks and committing just three errors. David Guerrero (East Meadow, NY) and Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME) also had solid evenings for the Dolphins as each picked up nine kills. Ross hit .583 in the contest, while rookie John Furka (Massapequa, NY) finished with five kills and a .375 hitting percentage.
Mike Quinn (Wantagh, NY) led the Mount with 25 assists in the tilt, while junior Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY) came on to finish with 11. Dotoratos also finished with three service aces. Ross also posted three aces, while Furka led the team with four.
Guerrero posted a match-high six digs on Monday, with Phil Anselmo (Bronx, NY) finishing the night with four. Mount Saint Vincent also had five players record one total block, with Fitzroy Lawson (Kingston, Jamaica) posting a solo stop.
Overall in the match, the Dolphins finished with 45 kills and assisted on 39 of those. They posted 18 service aces in the contest and had 15 digs. Yeshiva posted just 10 winners in the match and hit -.140.
David Katz and Nathaniel Montag led the Maccabees with three kills apiece, while Joseph Bajtner posted six assists and a pair of service aces.
The win moves the Dolphins to 6-8 overall, to 3-1 in the Skyline Conference and 3-2 in the NECVA's Metro Division. Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action on Tuesday night when it takes on Baruch. The road match is set for 7:00 p.m.
