Dolphins’ Winning Streak Ends With Losses To Lehman, Stevenson

winning streak ended with losses to non-conference opponents Lehman and Stevenson on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins fell to Lehman in the first match of the day by scores of 14-30, 22-30 and 26-30 and rounded out the day by falling to Stevenson by scores of 21-30, 24-30 and 20-30.

 

Senior Rob Hockenjos paced the Dolphins in both the matches and totaled 24 kills on the day. He finished off 11 winners against Lehman and also posted eight digs and a total block. He finished off the day with 13 kills, seven digs and a pair of solo blocks against Stevenson.

 

The Dolphins struggled in both contests on Saturday, hitting .024 in the opener against Lehman and then .032 against Stevenson. Lehman posted eight total team blocks against the Dolphins in the opener and Stevenson finished with seven. Mount Saint Vincent combined for just six total team blocks over the two matches.

 

Junior setter Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) has a solid day for the Dolphins handing out 29 assists against Lehman and then 26 helpers against the Mustangs from Stevenson. He also totaled four kills for the Mount and 13 digs.

 

Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) chipped in 12 kills on the day and played strong defensively, lifting 14 digs in the opener and then 17 against Stevenson. Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) totaled 20 kills on the day, including 11 in the Mount's second match.

 

The two losses dropped Mount Saint Vincent to 10-7 overall on the season. The Dolphins will remain home for a pair of matches on Tuesday night when they host Skyline rivals Purchase and Yeshiva. The Purchase match will get underway at 6:30 p.m. with the Yeshiva tilt set for 8:00 p.m.
