Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Rose) added seven kills and a team-high 11 kills, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team lost its second straight match, 3-0 to NECVA Metro foe NJCU on Friday night, 3-0 during a match played at Mount Saint Vincent. With the loss, the Dolphins fall to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in NECVA Metro play.
NJCU swept the match, 30-23, 30-26, and 30-21, however the Mount - who was dominated by the Gothic Knights during two losses to NJCU a year ago - was toe-to-toe with NJCU every step of the way.
Mount Saint Vincent had a solid hitting night overall, registering 34 total kills against 23 errors, but NJCU's outstanding night at the net proved to be the difference. Williams and junior Tanner Munroe (Milford, CT/Foran HS) had fine nights at the net with the duo combining for 7.5 total blocks. Also enjoying an outstanding night for the Dolphins was sophomore T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage HS), who had nine kills and five digs.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 3 when they host Purchase College for a 1:00 matinee.
