Dolphins Run Winning Streak To Seven With 3-1 Win Over CCNY

long winning streak to seven matches on Monday night with a hard fought 3-1 win over non-conference opponent CCNY. The Mount took the closely contested match by scores of 30-27, 30-32, 30-21 and 31-29. Four Dolphins reached double-figures in kills with sophomore Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) posting 13 kills and a team-high 11 digs.

 

Bacchi hit .286 on the night for Mount Saint Vincent on his way to a season-high 13 winners. He also reached double-figures in defensive digs for the first time in 2010 on Monday night. He rounded out a steady effort against the Beavers with a pair of aces and two assists.

 

Junior David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) paced the Dolphins in the tilt with 22 kills and 26 of the Mount's 80 points. He has posted at least 10 kills in all but two matches this season and has reached at least 20 three times for the Dolphins. He also added three aces, five digs and a pair of total blocks to the winning effort.

 

Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) rounded out the four in double-figures for Mount Saint Vincent with 11 and 12 kills respectively. Each chipped in with six digs and Hockenjos totaled a match-high four blocks.

 

Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) continued his steady season on Monday night with 49 assists to go along with three kills and nine defensive digs. Michael Sin (Hicksville, N.Y.) also had a strong night on the defensive end with nine digs and a solo block.

 

CCNY had a pair of players post 10 kills on the night with Manorge Joseph and Nick Siriban reaching double digits. Jonathan Aguirre handed out 32 assists on the night for the Beavers and Matthew Eg chipped in with nine kills and a match-high 15 digs.

 

Overall in the contest Mount Saint Vincent recorded 63 kills to 37 for the Beavers and also held the edge in digs 46-39. The Dolphins also posted seven total team blocks in the match.

 

The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 10-5 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday when they host Lehman and Stevenson in a non-conference tri-match. The Dolphins will open play on Saturday against Lehman at 10:00 a.m.
