PURCHASE, NY – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team snapped a three match losing streak on Friday night with a 3-0 win at Purchase. Scores of the match were 30-19, 30-21, and 30-24 in favor of the Dolphins. Freshman outside hitter
David Guerrero (East Meadow, NY) had another strong match, as he led the Mount with 19 kills.
Guerrero was the only Mount player to record double-figure kills in the match and he also contributed a pair of service aces, seven digs and a total block. Classmate Ryan Vogel (Holbrook, NY) was second on the team in winners with six, while John Furka (Massapequa, NY) notched four kills and committed just a single attack error.
The Dolphins had three players record at least six assists in the match, as Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME) posted six helpers, Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY) finished up with 10 and Mike Quinn (Wantagh, NY) notched a team-high 20. Ross would also record a service ace, three digs and two total blocks in the match, while Dotoratos posted three digs and a service ace. Quinn finished the night with three total blocks and eight digs and Phil Anselmo (Bronx, NY) led the Mount with a team-high 16 digs.
The win moves the Dolphins to 5-8 overall on the season, 2-1 in Skyline Conference play and 2-2 in NECVA Metro Division play. Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action again on Monday, February 18 when it hosts Yeshiva. The match is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
