Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Rose) enjoyed a double-double as the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team swept Lehman College 3-0 in the "Battle of the Bronx" on Thursday night during a match played at Mount Saint Vincent. With the win, the Dolphins improve to 2-2 heading into this weekend's Villa Julie Tournament in Stevenson, Maryland.
The Dolphins came out slugging, winning the opening game 30-14 and then overcame an outstanding Lehman College (0-1) effort during the second game to win 30-27. A 30-17 win during the third game gave the Mount the sweep. The Dolphins had an outstanding hitting night, registering a .299 attack percentage, and they also had eight total blocks compared to Lehman's single block. Freshman Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, NY/West Hempstead HS) had a monster night at the net as he amassed four solo blocks and three assisted blocks.
Williams and sophomore Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY/Salesian) also enjoyed fine overall performances. Williams registered 11 kills and 20 digs while Dotoratos had an outstanding match with 36 assists and five digs.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 when they compete in the Villa Julie Tournament. The Dolphins face Mount Olive at 10:30 a.m., Wentworth Institute of Technology at 1:30 p.m., and Villa Julie at 3:30 p.m.
