matches and remained undefeated in Skyline Conference play with a hard fought 3-1 win over Bard on Tuesday night. The Dolphins secured the win with game scores of 23-30, 30-25, 30-25 and 30-26. Senior
Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) paced the attack with 25 kills and 11 digs for the Mount.
After dropping the first game of the match the Dolphins responded with three straight wins to down the Raptors for the second time this season and fifth straight time overall. Hockenjos hit an impressive .436 in the match and also added a pair of aces and four total blocks to his double-double effort. He amassed 30 of the Mount's 78 total points on the night.
Hockenjos was one of three Mount Saint Vincent players to record double-figures in the kills category against Bard as junior David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) and sophomore Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) each recorded 13. The duo also combined for 24 digs, with Guerrero lifting a match-high 13 and Krauszer chipping in with 10. Guerrero also posted a match-high five service aces.
Junior setter Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) also had a strong effort on Tuesday as he handed out a match and season-high 52 assists on the night. He also chipped in with seven digs and three total blocks.
Bard was paced by Nick Chan who finished with team-highs of 16 kills and 24 assists. He also posted eight digs and four blocks for the Raptors. He was supported by Henry Schenker who totaled 15 winners and 16 helpers for the visitors.
After Bard hit .333 as a team in the opening game it fell off to hit just .150 as a group for the match. The Dolphins hit .181 on the night and posted 61 total kills to 48 for Bard. Overall the Dolphins held the edge in digs as well 54-49, while Bard out-blocked the Mount 9-7.
The win improves Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 8-5 on the season and its mark against Skyline foes to a perfect 6-0. The Mount will be back in action again on Thursday when it travels to Purchase. The contest with the Panthers is set for 7:00 p.m.
