(Hoboken, NJ) - Junior
Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME/Mount Blue HS) registered nine kills against only a single attacking error and added 12 digs, and sophomore
T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage HS) added six kills and seven digs, but the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team lost its second straight match, 3-0 to defending NECVA Champion Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday during a match played at Stevens. With the loss, Mount Saint Vincent is now 1-2 overall and 1-1 in NECVA Metro play.
For the second straight match, the Mount played against one of the toughest teams on its schedule, and for the second straight match the effort was outstanding as the Dolphins dropped the three games, 22-30, 14-30, and 18-30, almost exclusively against the very best that Stevens - the #4 team in the nation during this week's AVCA national poll - had to offer. The first game was especially noteworthy as the Dolphins were toe-to-toe with the host Ducks thanks to Ross, Pufahl, and a terrific outing by sophomore setter Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY/Salesian), who registered 18 assists and six digs. Also having a solid day for the Mount was senior Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Rose), who added five kills, four digs, and four assisted blocks.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Thursday, Jan. 25 when they host local rival Lehman College for the "Battle of the Bronx" at 7:00 p.m.
