Dolphins Remain Unbeaten In Skyline Play After Sweep Of Sage

Skyline Conference play after a 3-0 sweep of Sage on Sunday afternoon. The Dolphins took the match with game scores of 30-13, 30-18 and 30-25. David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) led all players with 15 kills and two other Dolphins posted double-doubles in the match.

 

Guerrero finished with the match-high kills total for the Mount and also chipped in with a match-high four service aces to go along with eight digs and one total block. He posted 19.5 total points in the winning effort for the Dolphins.

 

Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) also had a strong match for the Mount and was one half of the duo with a double-double. He finished the afternoon with 13 winners and 13 digs. He also totaled three aces and three total blocks on Sunday.

 

Junior Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) also notched a double-double for Mount Saint Vincent after lifting 10 defensive digs and handing out a match-high 38 assists. He also recorded a block assist and a pair of kills.

 

Sophomore opposite Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was the third Mount Saint Vincent player with double-figures in digs with 12 on the day. He also chipped in with nine kills, three aces and three total blocks. Krauszer, Hockenjos and Guerrero combined to finish with 37 of the Dolphins 45 kills and 51.5 of their 64 total points.

 

Overall in the match, Mount Saint Vincent posted 45 kills to 21 for Sage and lifted 53 digs to 24 for the Gators. The Mount also held a 6-3 advantage in total team blocks. The Dolphins recorded 13 aces on Sunday and had four players with at least three in the match.

 

The win evens Mount Saint Vincent's overall record at 5-5 and pushes it to a perfect 3-0 against Skyline Conference opponents. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Wednesday when they travel to Yeshiva. The contest with the Maccabees is slated for 8:00 p.m.
