afternoon. The Dolphins were defeated by #13 Medaille 3-0, but rebounded for a 3-1 victory over SUNYIT. Scores of the Medialle match were 10-30, 16-30 and 23-30 against the Mount, while scores of the SUNYIT match were 23-30, 30-24, 30-25 and 30-19 in favor of the Dolphins. Freshman outside hitter
David Guerrero (East Meadow, NY) combined for 20 kills over the two matches.
Against Medaille, Guerrero posted a team-high six kills to go along with five digs and two total blocks. T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY) contributed five kills in the match and also had three digs and three total blocks.
Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY) led the team with nine assists and freshman Mike Quinn (Wantagh, NY) followed closely with eight helpers in the match. Dotoratos and Quinn also finished with one total block each.
After dropping the first game against SUNYIT, the Dolphins responded nicely to earn their third win of the season. Three Mount players finished with double-figure kills, led by Ryan Vogel's (Holbrook, NY) 17. Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME) finished with 16 winners, while Guerrero followed with 14 kills in the win. The Dolphins finished 66 kills in the four game match and hit an impressive .385 in earning the victory.
Both Ross and Vogel finished with double-doubles, as Ross posted 12 digs and Vogel finished up with 10. Phil Anselmo (Bronx, NY) contributed a team-high 16 digs for the Dolphins.
Ross, who played a strong all-around match, also had six assists against SUNYIT. Quinn finished the afternoon with five helpers, while Dotoratos led the team in the category with 40 assists in the win.
The split moves Mount Saint Vincent to 3-3 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be off until February 4 when they host NECVA divisional rival Ramapo. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Hayes Gymnasium.
