Metro Division win of the season with a 3-0 sweep at Yeshiva on Thursday night. Scores of the match went 30-22, 30-17 and 30-22 in favor of the visiting Dolphins.
John Furka (Massapequa, N.Y.) and
Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) totaled 11 and 10 kills respectively.
Furka finished the match with a .450 hitting percentage, committing just a pair of attack errors for the Mount. He also finished with two service aces and four digs in the contest. Krauszer also finished with an impressive hitting percentage, committing just two errors on his way to a .400 percentage. He notched a team-high six service aces and also posted eight defensive digs.
Sophomore David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) recorded a team-high nine digs in the match and also chipped in with eight kills, two total blocks and a pair of service aces. Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with 22 assists for the Dolphins, while Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, N.Y.) registered 14 helpers.
Overall in the match Mount Saint Vincent hit .302, converting 43 kills and committing just 17 attack errors. The Dolphins lifted 35 digs as a team and recorded 4.5 total team blocks.
The win pushes the Mount's overall record to 5-7, its NECVA record to 1-3 and its Skyline mark to 3-0. Next up for the Dolphins is a trip to York (N.Y.) on February 14. The match with the Cardinals is set for 1:00 p.m.
