1. The visiting Roadrunners secured the win with game scores of 30-17, 28-30, 30-22 and 30-17. Junior
David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) led all players with 14 kills and classmate Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) handed out 39 assists.
After falling in the opening game of the match 30-17, the Dolphins responded with an impressive 30-28 game two triumph. The Dolphins rallied from six points down in the game to rebound for the win on a Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, N.Y.) kill to close it out.
Ramapo would respond with wins in games three and four to secure the win, posting 23 of their 49 kills in the final two contests. In game four the Roadrunners hit .455 as a team, committing just three errors in 22 total attempts.
Brett Greiner led Ramapo with 10 kills on the night to go along with nine digs and a block assist. Matt Scott recorded a double-double for the Roadrunners after lifting 11 digs and posting a match-high 41 assists. Kevin McNerney matched Scott for the team lead in digs with 11.
Guerrero also notched a double-double in the match, posting a match-high 13 defensive digs in addition to his 14 kills. He also chipped in with a service ace and three block assists.
Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) posted his second 10-plus kill effort of the season with 10 winners against the Roadrunners. He also lifted five digs and finished with a match-high five total blocks.
Quinn continued his solid early season play for the Mount on Thursday with his 39 helpers. He also had five digs on the night and two total blocks. Bacchi contributed eight kills and six digs to the Mount Saint Vincent attack.
Overall in the match, Ramapo hit .210 to just .014 for the Dolphins and the Roadrunners lifted 51 digs to 36 for the Mount. Ramapo also held a 9-7 edge in total team blocks on Thursday.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 3-5 overall on the season and to 0-2 in NECVA Metro play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday when they travel to Skyline and NECVA rival Bard. The match with the Raptors is set for 2:00 p.m.
