Mahwah, N.J. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team had its losing streak extended
to four matches on Thursday night with a 3-0 loss at #9 Ramapo. Scores of the match were 21-30, 14-30 and 23-30 in favor of the host Roadrunners. Sophomore
David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) paced the Dolphins in the contest with 11 kills.
Guerrero notched double-figures in kills for the fourth time this season overall and for the second time in the Mount's last three matches with his 11 winners on Thursday. He also posted four defensive digs and three block assists in the contest.
Junior Rob Hockenjos finished the night with nine kills for the Dolphins and hit an impressive .462 overall. He committed just three attack errors on 13 total attempts in the match. Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finished with five kills and a pair of digs for the Mount, while T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, N.Y.) recorded four winners, three digs and the team's lone service ace.
Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, N.Y.) paced the Dolphins with a team-high 23 assists in the match and also chipped in with a pair of kills and two digs. Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) recorded six helpers on Thursday and also lifted two digs.
Ramapo (8-1, 2-0 NECVA Metro) had 11 players record at least one kill in the match, with Tom Kohler leading the way with 13 and a .588 attack percentage. TC Elsasser and Shane Donohue each converted six kills for the Roadrunners and Jairo Sierra recorded a match-high 37 assists in the win.
As a team the Dolphins hit .151 in the match, converting 34 total kills. They finished with 22 digs and three total team blocks. The Roadrunners hit an impressive .404 overall on the night, to go along with eight service aces and five total team blocks.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent's overall record to 3-6 on the season and its NECVA Metro mark to 0-2. Next up for the Mount is a trip to Medgar Evers on February 8. The match with the Cougars is set for 1:00 p.m.
