Stevenson, Md. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team dropped three matches on
Saturday at Stevenson University. The Mount fell to King College (Tenn.) 3-0, the host Mustangs 3-1 and to #12 Baruch 3-0. Sophomore
David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) finished the three matches with 33 kills and 34 digs.
Scores of the King match were 26-30, 16-30 and 23-30 against the Dolphins in their first of three on the day. Senior T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, N.Y.) paced the Mount with 11 kills in the match, while Guerrero chipped in with eight winners. Senior setter Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, N.Y.) finished the contest with 23 assists, three digs and a block assist.
The team hit just .118 in the contest, converting 32 kills on 93 swings. The Dolphins lifted 21 defensive digs as a unit and posted 5.5 total team blocks.
Against Stevenson, Mount Saint Vincent had three players record at least 10 kills. Guerrero led the way with 19 winners, with Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) posting 12 and freshman Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finishing with 10.
Five Dolphins reached double-figures in digs against the Mustangs, with Guerrero lifting a team-high 17. Krauszer finished with 14 in the contest and John Furka (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Dotoratos each recorded 10. Dotoratos finished off the double-double with 42 assists.
The Dolphins closed out their busy Saturday against #12 Baruch. Furka finished the match with a team-high eight kills for the Mount, while Guerrero and Justin Amaral (Warwick, R.I.) each posted six. Guerrero also led the team with nine digs and Amaral closed out a solid match with seven.
Dotoratos and Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) shared the setting duties in the finale, with Dotoratos leading the way with 16 assists to go along with four digs. Quinn posted 11 helpers in the match and also posted a service ace and five digs.
The Dolphins now stand at 3-5 overall on the season heading into Thursday night's NECVA Metro match at Ramapo. The contest with the Roadrunners is set for 7:00 p.m.
