match to a nationally ranked opponent on Wednesday night when it was defeated at #5 Stevens by a score of 3-0. The Ducks took the match by scores of 19-30, 20-30 and 15-30. Freshman
Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) led the Dolphins in the match with six kills.
Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) and David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) each posted three kills in the match, with Guerrero adding a team-high five digs and Hockenjos recording a block assist and a service ace. John Furka (Massapequa, N.Y.) finished the contest with two of the Mount's three service aces and also posted a pair of defensive digs and a total block.
Sophomore setter Michael Quinn (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished up with 15 assists in the match for the Dolphins to go along with five digs.
Stevens hit .346 in the match as a team, posting 40 kills on 78 total attacks. Bryant DeFranco and Andrew Cranford led the Ducks with six kills apiece, while SteFan PremDas and Tomas Bochicchio each chipped in with five winners.
Michael Bertucci posted a match-high nine defensive digs in the contest, with Brandt Grobeis finishing with 15 assists and Derek Mulvey posting 12 helpers in the winning effort. Timothy Karl finished the night with three of the Ducks' 10 total team blocks.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-2 overall on the season and to 0-1 in NECVA play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on January 27 when they travel to CCNY. The match with the Beavers is slated for 7:00 p.m.
