Dolphins Drop Home Opener To #15 Hunter

opener by #15 Hunter on Thursday night. The Mount was led by freshman Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, NY) who finished with eight kills and a pair of total blocks.

Krauszer has put together back-to-back solid matches to start his collegiate career, as he is now second on the team in kills and the team leader in total blocks through the first two matches of the season. He rounded out a solid effort on Thursday with five defensive digs as well.

Sophomore David Guerrero (East Meadow, NY) and rookie Justin Amaral (Warwick, RI) finished with five kills apiece in the match, while T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY) posted three winners for the Mount. Guerrero also finished with four digs and two service aces. Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY) finished the night with team-highs in assists with 19 and in digs with seven.

Hunter, who was ranked #15 in the Preseason American Volleyball Coaches' Associations (AVCA) Poll, finished the match with 37 kills and a .368 hitting percentage. Wojciech Jakubiak led the way with 10 winners and an attack percentage of .333, while Eric Barty finished with nine for the Hawks.

Miguel Pena led all players with a match-high 11 digs, while Zacarias Ripoll posted six kills and a match-high 22 assists in the winning effort.

The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-1 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on January 19 when they travel to Medgar Evers. The non-conference match with the Cougars is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
