with a 3-1 win at Polytechnic on Wednesday evening. Scores of the games were 30-19, 27-30, 30-22 and 30-22 in favor of the Mount. Sophomore
David Guerrero (East Meadow, NY) paced the Dolphins with 12 kills.
Guerrero added nine digs and five service aces to his kill total and also chipped in with a pair of total blocks. Senior T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, NY) and junior Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, NY) each finished the match with seven winners, while Justin Amaral (Warwick, RI) and John Furka (Massapequa, NY) posted six and five kills respectively.
A pair of freshmen recorded double-figures in digs in their first collegiate match, as Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, NY) led the Mount with a team-high 13 and classmate Chris Bacchi (Hicksville, NY) posted 10.
Sophomore Michael Quinn (Wantagh, NY) paced Mount Saint Vincent with 22 assists in the match to go along with a service ace and three digs. Senior setter Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY) chipped in with 17 helpers as well as a dig and a total block.
The Dolphins posted a .204 hitting percentage as a team and recorded 44 kills in the match. The Mount finished with 7.5 total team blocks and was led in the category by Krauszer who notched four in his collegiate debut.
The win moves Mount Saint Vincent to 1-0 overall on the season and to 1-0 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action on Thursday night when they host Hunter. The match is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
