Stevenson, Md. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team had its season come to an
end on Saturday with a 3-0 to Hunter in the ECAC South Division Tournament. The Dolphins were defeated by scored of 22-30, 11-30 and 14-30. Sophomore
David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) led the Mount with 10 kills in the contest.
Guerrero was the only Mount Saint Vincent player to record double figure kills in the contest and was just one of five player overall to post a winner. The sophomore outside hitter also chipped in with a service ace and six defensive digs.
John Furka, a 2009 First Team All-Skyline Conference selection, finished the match with nine kills for the Dolphins to go along with an ace and four digs. Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) contributed seven winners in the match for the Mount, while T.J. Pufahl (Bethpage, N.Y.) and Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) posted four kills each. Senior Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, N.Y.) posted a team-high 30 assists for Mount Saint Vincent.
Overall in the match, Mount Saint Vincent hit just .107 against an impressive .560 for Hunter. The Hawks finished off 46 kills in the match and committed just four attack errors in the win. Hunter was paced by Jerin Kallickal with 11 kills and Zacarias Ripoll who recorded a match-high 36 assists.
The appearance in the 2009 ECAC Tournament is the Mount's first since the 2002 season. Head Coach Tom Callahan also guided the Mount to a perfect 8-0 Skyline Conference record in 2009 and the program's first ever Skyline Championship.
The loss to Hunter on Saturday ends Mount Saint Vincent's season with a 15-14 overall record.
