Ross, Butts lead Men’s Volleyball to 3-0 sweep of Yeshiva for second straight win

Dolphins now 2-1 in NECVA Metro Conference with dominating win

New York, NY) – Sophomore Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME/Mount Blue HS) had his second consecutive double-double with a career-high 17 kills and 15 digs, and senior Russell Butts (Long Beach, NY/Long Beach HS) added 10 kills, two blocks, and a .444 attack percentage as the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team won its second straight match, and third during its last three matches, 3-0 over Yeshiva University on Thursday night. The win improves the Mount to 3-2 overall, including a 2-1 record in NECVA Metro play.

The Dolphins swept the match, improving with each game as they won 30-21, 30-18, and 30-16.


Ross continues to show incredible improvement, following up a 13 kill, 24 dig effort during a 3-1 win over Medgar Evers on Monday with the best outing of his career on Thursday night. His .281 attack percentage was also a career high, and he teamed with Butts and Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Mary's) to give the Mount an dominating trio. Butts finished the match with 10 kills, two blocks, and two service aces, while Williams enjoyed a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs.


Ross also added a match-high four service aces for Mount Saint Vincent.


Also for the Mount, junior Matt Reinhardt (Staten Island, NY/McKee-Staten Island Tech) registered a match-high 37 assists.


Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Saturday, February 4 when they host York College at 7:00 p.m. The match will be the closing event of an athletics quadruple-header on Saturday when Mount Saint Vincent hosts the Women's Basketball Alumni game at 11:30 a.m., a Women's and Men's Basketball doubleheader with Stevens at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively, and the Men's Volleyball match at night. Admission is free for all four events.
