2010 regular season on Friday night with a 3-0 loss at #5 Vassar. The Brewers took the win by downing the Dolphins 16-30, 26-30 and 26-30. Junior
David Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) finished the match with 10 kills and classmate Michael Quinn finished with a double-double in assists and digs.
Guerrero was the only Mount Saint Vincent player to finish in double figures in kills with his 10 winners. He hit .192 overall in the match and also lifted nine defensive digs. Matt Krauszer (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) finished the night with nine kills for Mount Saint Vincent and rounded out a solid all-around match with nine digs.
Quinn handed out a match-high 29 assists against Vassar on Friday and completed the double-double effort with 10 digs, equaling the match-high. Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, N.Y.) chipped in with seven kills and two total blocks.
The Brewers were paced by Phil Tully who totaled 15 kills and hit an impressive .448 for the match. Tully also finished with a pair of service aces and four digs. Evan Fredericksen hit an even .500 on the night for Vassar and posted 11 kills.
Vassar finished the night with 44 kills and hit .264 as a team and the Mount posted 35 winners and hit an even .200 as a unit. Vassar out blocked Mount Saint Vincent 5-3 as a team, with Lucas Rathjens posted three block assists.
The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 14-16 overall on the season and to 4-5 against NECVA Metro Division opponents.
