high .750 attack percentage, and senior Dan Williams (Brick Township, NJ/St. Rose) had an outstanding match with team-highs in kills (13), digs (21) and also registered a .500 attack percentage as the Mount Saint Vincent Men's Volleyball team swept NECVA-Metro rival Polytechnic, 3-0 on Saturday. The effort allowed the Dolphins to split the tri-meet with the Stevens Institute of Technology, who swept the Mount 3-0 earlier in the day. After the 1-1 afternoon, Mount Saint Vincent is now 8-12 overall and 3-5 in NECVA Metro play.

Against Stevens, Williams and freshman Rob Hockenjos (West Hempstead, NY/West Hempstead HS) had the hot hands as Mount Saint Vincent turned in a solid effort during two out of the three games. The Mount trailed 18-16 during the first game against the Metro's first place team, but Stevens then stormed ahead and claimed the opening game 30-19. After a dominating effort by the Ducks during a 30-17 win in game two, Mount Saint Vincent stormed back for the third game, and led through much of it, but a late Stevens rally gave the Ducks a 30-27 win and the sweep. Williams registered eight kills and 13 digs, while Hockenjos had a fine day with six kills, a .556 attack percentage, and seven digs.

After a long break while Stevens swept Polytechnic during match two of the tri-match, the Mount ended the day with one of their finest efforts of the season during the win over the Fighting Blue Jays as Mount Saint Vincent registered 49 kills against only eight errors for a .451 team attack percentage. Mount Saint Vincent swept the match 30-10, 30-15, and 30-10 to earn their second win this season against Polytechnic. Six different Dolphins amassed kills as Pufahl and Williams were virtually unstoppable, and junior Arnold Ross (Wilton, ME/Mount Blue HS) had 11 kills. Sophomore Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY/Salesian) was also impressive as he registered a match-high 36 assists.

Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Monday, March 5 when they travel to NJCU for a crucial NECVA Metro encounter. A win over the Gothic Knights will keep the Mount's playoff hopes alive.
