Mount Saint Vincent wins third straight with 3-0 sweep of Purchase

least 12 kills and the Dolphins cruised to a 3-0 win over Purchase on Monday night at Hayes Gymnasium. Scores of the match were 30-27, 30-20, and 30-18 in favor of the Mount. David Guerrero (East Meadow, NY) led the charge with 15 kills, while Ryan Vogel (Holbrook, NY) and John Furka (Massapequa, NY) posted 13 and 12 winners, respectively.

To go along with his match-high 15 kills, Guerrero posted a service ace, eight defensive digs and a total block. Vogel also had a strong night as he recorded a pair of aces and eight digs. Furka was again solid for the Dolphins as he finished up with a pair of service aces, six defensive digs and three total blocks. All three of the freshmen hit at least .300 on the night, with Guerrero posting a hitting percentage of .407.

The Mount Saint Vincent setters also had a strong evening, as Chris Dotoratos (Bronx, NY) recorded a match-high 28 assists to go along with three service aces and seven digs. Mike Quinn (Wantagh, NY) contributed 14 helpers on the night along with a service ace and a pair of digs.

Overall as a team, the Dolphins hit .298 and finished off 46 kills. The Dolphins had assists on 45 of those winners and committed just 15 attack errors in the win. The team also had 10 service aces, 38 digs and five total team blocks.

Purchase was led by Daniel Grabowski-Clark who had eight kills and 10 digs. Bic Cass recorded 22 assists on the night, while Aaron Waytkus finished the night with seven kills and a match-high 14 digs.

Mount Saint Vincent's third straight win moves it to 11-14 overall on the season and to 6-2 in the Skyline Conference. The Dolphins will close out the regular season with a home match on Wednesday night against Webb Institute. The match at Hayes Gymnasium is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
