league rival Farmingdale St. on Sunday afternoon. The Rams collected an 8-0 win in the first game and then closed the set with a 17-0 triumph. The Dolphins recorded just four hits over the two games, with
Lisa O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) ripping a double in the opener.
The Dolphins would be stifled in both games of the set by Farmingdale St. pitching. The Rams' Hope Zino picked up the win in game one by striking out 10 and allowing just three base hits. O'Shea's double was the only Mount Saint Vincent hit to go for extra bases, with Marni O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) and Katie Shea (Flushing, N.Y.) recording the other two safeties.
Three different Farmingdale St. players posted multiple hits in the first contest with Jennifer Jarczynski going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Maressa Mistretta and Kaitlin Keenan each drove in two runs for the Rams.
In game two on Sunday the Dolphins would manage just one hit off of Farmingdale St. starter Heather Buckshaw. She allowed just a single to Shea in the fourth inning and fanned four Mount Saint Vincent batters to move to 4-2 on the season.
The Rams finished the game with 13 hits and again had three players with multiple safeties. Keenan led four Rams with at least two runs batted in with three.
The sweep on Sunday drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-9 overall on the season and to 1-3 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will look to rebound on Monday, April 4 when they host St. Joseph's-Brooklyn. First pitch with the Lady Bears is slated for 4:00 p.m.
