Conference doubleheader on Sunday at Farmingdale State. The Rams took both ends of the twinbill by winning game one 14-1 and then taking game two 13-1.
Lisa O'Shea (White Plains, NY) picked up a hit in both games and drove in the Mount's only run in the back end of the set.
The Dolphins were held to just three hits in the opener as O'Shea, Ariella Tirado (Newburgh, NY) and Sam Reynolds (Mamaroneck, NY) all recorded hits, with Reynolds ripping her first double of the season.
Farmingdale recorded 11 hits in game one and was led by Alexis Pennella who went 3-3 with four runs scored and four RBI. Nicole Farber also had a big game for the Rams, going 2-3 with a run and three driven in.
Tirado took the loss for the Dolphins, working 4.0 innings. Her counterpart Heather Buckshaw picked up the win, going 5.0 innings and allowing just one run on three hits. She struck out seven in the contest and did not walk a batter.
In game two, the Dolphins posted seven hits and scored their only run in the third after O'Shea drove in Dana McGuire (Setauket, NY) after she led off the frame with an infield single. McGuire went 2-3 with a run in the second game to lead the Mount.
Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, NY) got the nod in game two and worked 4.0 innings, allowing nine hits. Buckshaw was again the winner for Farmingdale, as she struck out four in 5.0 innings of work.
The sweep drops Mount Saint Vincent to 5-9 overall on the season and to 0-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action again on April 5 when they host Old Westbury at Noon.
