Mount Saint Vincent was stifled by Ashley O'Beirne in game one after she allowed only four hits and two runs. She fanned 10 Dolphins and walked only one batter. She also doubled to pick up one of the Gotchic Knights' 13 hits in the game.
Katie Shea (Flushing, N.Y.) collected two of the four hits for the Dolphins in the opener, including a double in the fifth inning that broke up O'Beirne's bid at a perfect game. Lisa O'Shea and Deanna Rivera (Pelham, N.Y.) recorded the other hits for the Mount, with Lisa O'Shea and Shea scoring the runs.
In game two, Lisa O'Shea led of the first inning for the Dolphins with a home run down the left field line to give the Mount a quick 1-0 lead. NJCU would then take command of the game in the third inning when it plated 10 runs after taking advantage of six Mount Saint Vincent errors in the inning.
Lisa O'Shea finished the game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Marni O'Shea (White Plains, N.Y.) also went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Megan Gonzalez (Fishers, Ind.) collected two hits and a run scored, while Rosanna Pulice (Yonkers, N.Y.) drove in two runs with a single.
The sweep at the hands of the Gothic Knights drops Mount Saint Vincent to 7-17 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to league action on Saturday when they travel to NYU-POLY. The twinbill with the Blue Jays is set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
