(Riverdale, NY) – Pitchers
Krista Roberts (Wilmington, MA/Wilmington HS) and
Jessica Riddle (Billerica, MA/Billerica HS) held the potent Manhattanville College line-up in check for much of Sunday's doubleheader with the defending Skyline Conference Champions, but ultimately the Valiants proved to be too much, sweeping Mount Saint Vincent 11-0 and 10-0. With the losses, Mount Saint Vincent is now 2-16 overall and 0-6 in Skyline Conference play.
Riddle was outstanding for much of Saturday's opener, pitching two scoreless innings to open the game. Her only tough inning was the third when Manhattanville jumped on her for eight runs. Otherwise, she was outstanding, striking out two Valiants while walking four. Mount Saint Vincent managed only three hits during the opener and did not get a runner past second base.
Game two was all Manhattanville as the Valiants scored twice in the second inning, five times an inning later, and three times during the top of the fifth inning to secure the win and improve to 11-7 and 4-0 in Skyline Conference play. Freshman Jillian Troncoso (W. Haverstraw, NY/W. Haverstraw HS) chipped in the lone Mount Saint Vincent hit during the night-cap, and Roberts allowed nine earned runs while pitching a complete game.
Mount Saint Vincent returns to action on Wednesday, April 5 when they host Farmingdale State.
