Dolphins Snap Skid, Down Polytechnic 1-0

Eminov tallies game winner

PURCHASE, NY – Freshman Senur Eminov (Bronx, NY) scored with just under four minutes left in regulation to send Mount Saint Vincent to a 1-0 victory of Polytechnic on Monday afternoon. The tally is Eminov's first career goal and it snaps the Dolphins' three game losing streak.

The two teams played a scoreless first half on Monday and the second half was back and forth until the Mount finally broke through late in regulation. The game winner came when Mahabir Samuel (Bronx, NY) put the ball to the goal mouth from the right side of the box. After the ball hit several bodies in front, Eminov put a foot on the ball and buried it in the back of the net for the hard fought win.

Senior Billy Raftery (Bronx, NY) made seven saves for the win and the shutout. The shutout is Raftery's first of the season and the second of his career. His counter part from Polytechnic, Wilson Zhindon, made four saves in the contest for the Blue Jays.

Overall in the contest, Polytechnic held the edge in shots 12-9. Corner kicks also favored the Blue Jays 5-1, while fouls in the contest were whistled 20-19 against the Dolphins.

The win moves Mount Saint Vincent to 2-10 overall and to 2-1 in the Skyline Conference. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Wednesday night when they host Bard. The game will be played at Purchase and is scheduled for 9:00 p.m.
