Downey opened the scoring with his first marker at 11:01 in the first half. He broke free after a punt from keeper Bill Raftery (Bronx, NY) and snuck the ball inside the left post for his first career goal. He added the eventual game winner at 62:38 in the second half on a similar play. He broke free of the Yeshiva defense at midfield and chipped the ball under the bar to send the Dolphins to the win.
Downey was one of four players with multiple shots in the game for the Mount, finishing with five. Senur Eminov (Bronx, NY) and Devon Catucci (Rochester, NY) each posted three shots, while Joe Machado (Yonkers, NY) posted a pair.
Yeshiva made things tighter with just under 10:00 left in regulation time, when Zachary Stern brought the Maccabess within one on an unassisted tally at 80:18. He caused a turnover and streaked down the wing to beat Raftery to bring the Macs to within the eventual final 2-1.
Raftery finished the night with three saves, while his counterpart Daniel Rosenthal posted six stops for Yeshiva.
