Bronx
, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Baseball team got a pair of complete game wins

from its starters on Sunday as it cruised to a doubleheader sweep of Yeshiva. Sophomore Anthony
Mongelli

Anthony Mongelli struck out
10 in his complete game one
hitter on Sunday.

Mongelli (Flushing, N.Y.) fired a complete game shutout in a 10-0 game one victory and rookie Mike McManus (Queens, N.Y.) followed that up with a complete game five hitter in a 14-1 triumph in the nightcap.

After struggling in his last previous against Stevens last Monday, Mongelli responded in a big way for the Dolphins on Sunday. He allowed a two out single in the fourth followed by a walk to give Yeshiva its lone threat of the afternoon. He finished with 10 strikeouts against three walks as he lowered his season earned run average by over two full runs.

The offense gave the sophomore right hander more then enough support by pounding out 16 hits, including six doubles. James Labartino (Holbrook, N.Y.), Christian Lavery (Westbury, N.Y.) and Mike Pope (Massapequa, N.Y.) all collected three hits on the day, with Pope recording a pair of doubles. Labartino and Lavery also scored two runs in the contest.

In game two the Dolphins got another sterling start from Mike McManus who worked the Mount's third complete game of the weekend. He allowed a single run in the second inning and allowed just one extra base hit. He did not walk a batter and fanned seven Maccabees to earn his second win of the season. Following McManus' start the Dolphins posted a 2.25 team earned run average over the four Skyline Conference games on the weekend.

Mount Saint Vincent's starter was again supported by a strong offensive attack that collected 16 more base hits. John McManus (Queens, N.Y.) and Joe Blackford (Stewartsville, N.J.) each finished with two hits, with Blackford scoring a pair of runs and driving in three.

Pope closed out an impressive day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. He finished the set a perfect 6-for-6 with three runs scored and four RBI.

The Dolphins collected an important league sweep against Yeshiva that pushes them to 13-14 overall on the year and to 6-4 in league play. The Mount will be back in action again on Tuesday afternoon when it travels to Division II Mercy. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
