at Old Westbury on Saturday night. The Dolphins were downed 11-1 in the first game, before rebounding for a 7-3 win in game two.

In game one, the Dolphins could only scratch out two hits against two Old Westbury pitchers. Robert Whitenack went 7.0 innings for the Panthers and allowed just one unearned run on one hit. Whitenack struck out 11 and walked just one. Frank Russo came on to work the final two innings for Old Westbury and allowed just one hit and a walk.
Joe Blackford (Stewartsville, NJ) collected one of the two hits in game one for the Mount, while James Labartino (Holbrook, NY) rapped a double for the other Mount Saint Vincent hit.
Anthony Palandro (Westbury, NY) took the loss and fell to 1-4 on the season. In 3.0 innings of work, Palandro allowed nine runs, only five earned, on eight hits. He fanned a pair and walked one batter. Scott Taylor (Jersey City, NJ) worked four effective innings in relief, allowing just one run on six hits.
In game two, the Dolphins pounded out nine hits and scored runs in four of the seven innings. Cuozzo led the way with three hits and a run scored, while five Dolphins drove in runs. Blackford continued to swing a steady bat for the Mount, as he went 1-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.
Mike Trainor (Patterson, NY) picked up the win and moved to 3-1 on the season. He worked 6.0 innings and allowed three earned runs on six hits. He struck out six Old Westbury batters and walked just one. Blackford came on to work the seventh inning and allowed a hit and a walk. He struck out one batter in the frame.
The split moves Mount Saint Vincent to 7-11 overall and to 2-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be back in action on Sunday when they host Maritime. First-pitch for the twinbill at Andy Coakley Field at Columbia University is scheduled for Noon.
