the win on the mound after delivering the game winning run in the ninth inning of game one.

The Dolphins opened a 6-0 lead in game one after plating two runs in the second and four more in the third. Gerald Amerosi (Staten Island, N.Y.) got the Dolphins on the board with an RBI groundout in the second before Kevin Coogan (Bronx, N.Y.) crossed on a wild pitch.

In the third inning the Dolphins scored four runs on just two hits, taking advantage of a pair of Blue Knight errors. Coogan picked up an RBI double in the inning and Blackford delivered a run with a single.

From the third inning on the Blue Knights began to slowly chip away at the Mount Saint Vincent lead. After the two teams traded runs in the fourth inning, the Blue Knights closed their deficit to just one run at 7-6 after a five run sixth inning. Louis Peisel ripped a two run double to highlight the inning.

The two teams would trade blows until the top of the ninth inning when Mount Saint Mary took its first lead of the game with three runs in the top of the ninth. Rich DeRosa pushed the Blue Knights in front with a double.

Mike Pope (Massapequa, N.Y.) got the comeback started with a long at bat that resulted in a single through the right side. After John McManus (Queens, N.Y.) reached on an error, Coogan bounced to short to push Pope across to tie the game. That set up Blackford who drove a double to centerfield to send the Dolphins to the exciting 11-10 win. Blackford earned the win after blowing the save in the top of the ninth.

Five Mount Saint Vincent players had at least two hits in game one, with James Labartino (Holbrook, N.Y) going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. McManus, Coogan and Blackford all finished the tilt with a pair of RBI.

In game two Mike McManus (Queens, N.Y.) and Dan McRea hooked up in a pitchers duel with neither team able to push a run across until T,J., Laible (Rockaway, N.Y.) drove home the Dolphins' only run with a double in the fifth.

The one run lead would hold until the top of the seventh when the Blue Knight scored three runs. After a leadoff double from Matt Precsia, Brian McNoble drilled a two run home run to right field for Mount Saint Mary's second last at bat comeback of the day. An all important third run would score on a sac fly with one out.

Blackford again tried to bring the Mount back in the bottom of the seventh when he led off with a rocket home run out to right center. Anthony Masullo (Brooklyn, N.Y.) followed by reaching on an error, but McRea retired the next three batters to secure the win.

Coogan picked up another hit in game two and ran his hitting streak to 11 games. Labartino, Blackford and Masullo each also collected hits for the Mount, with Blackford and Masullo scoring the runs. Labartino finished the afternoon with three outfield assists, including a runner at home in the opener.

McManus worked a complete game, allowing three runs on seven hits. McRea picked up the win, also firing a complete game, allowing five hits and fanning eight Dolphins.

The split pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 9-12 overall and to 3-3 in the Skyline Conference. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Wednesday when they travel to Lehman. First pitch with the Lightning is set for 7:00 p.m.
