James Labartino was one of
five Dolphins with at least
two hits against Baruch.

The Dolphins gave Puma all the run support he would need with a pair of tallies in the second and then three more in the third inning. Ryan Hollborn (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch before Ruzzo drove in the eventual game winner with a sharp single up the middle to give the Dolphins a 2-0 lead.

Mount Saint Vincent picked right up where it left off in its third at bat with three more runs on three hits to open a 5-0 lead. Kevin Coogan (Bronx, N.Y.) had the big blow in the third with a two run double to right field. Coogan finished the day 3-4 with a pair of runs batted in.

The Dolphins would record insurance runs in the fifth and sixth, before putting the game away with five more runs in the seventh. James Labartino (Holbrook, N.Y.) highlighted the big inning with a run scoring double off the left center field wall.

The five early runs would be more then enough for Puma who allowed just one unearned run in the longest outing of his career. He allowed only three base hits and struck out a pair of Bearcats. He walked two batters on the night, with both of those coming in the eighth inning. Ryan Schlicter (Southold, N.Y.) came on to work a scoreless ninth inning, allowing two hits and fanning a pair.

Ruzzo led five Dolphins who enjoyed multiple hit days with his four safeties. He also scored a pair of runs and picked up two RBI on the night. Labartino, Mike Pope (Massapequa, N.Y.) and John McManus (Queens, N.Y.) all finished with a pair of hits each for the Mount. All three also had an RBI and a run scored as well, with McManus crossing the plate twice.

The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 8-9 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to Skyline Conference play on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Old Westbury. The twinbill with the Panthers is set for 12:00 p.m.
